Cincinnati Podcasts You’re Missing Out On!

1

It’s the time of year already. The summer is winding down and the kids are starting to head back to school (where DID the summer go?). The school year comes with its own crazy schedules. Between morning and afternoon carpool, sports practices, and various extracurricular activities, a lot of our time is now destined to be spent in our cars.

Enter in the tried and true podcasts!

Yes, I know what you’re thinking… There are so many podcasts. You’re right, there are! Currently there are 700,000 active podcasts worldwide with 29 million episodes currently recorded.

That is a lot, yes. So since there are so many out there, let me give you a few suggestions. Not only that, but these podcasts are from right here in Cincinnati! They touch on all different genres and information, so I think there is something for everyone:

THIS WEEK IN CINCINNATI
This podcast is a newer one in Cincinnati, but I think it’s great! It’s hosted by two local realtors in the area and gives weekly updates on what’s happening in Cincinnati. Current happenings, upcoming events to check out in the area, etc.

Their tagline is YOUR WEEKLY DIGEST OF CINCINNATI NEWS (that won’t leave you depressed). I think that in itself is worth it!

THE CINCY SHIRTS PODCAST
I’m sure many of you are familiar with the fun shirts and other apparel that Cincinnati Shirts creates (check them out here!). But they also have a podcast that has over 70 episodes and started at the beginning of 2018. Their podcasts are relaxed, laid back, and just a lot of fun listen to.

Their episodes are usually an hour or longer, so this is great for those long car rides to and from away games or during that sports practice you have to sit through.

Their tagline is, IT’S ALL CINCY, ALL THE TIME, AS WE DISCUSS THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE OF THE QUEEN CITY. If you’re newer to the Cincinnati area or lived here all your life, I guarantee you’re going to learn something new and exciting with every episode.

ACCUSED
If you’re a true crime fanatic (like I am), this is a great podcast to get into! This has two seasons currently that focus on two separate crimes that occurred in Cincinnati and Newport, KY. One is unsolved and the other poses the question of whether the correct person was convicted.

This podcast was created by investigative reporters from the Cincinnati Enquirer. They keep your attention with the details given and definitely keeps you looking forward to the next episode!

CINCY BREWCAST
If you are a beer fan or have checked out our Guide to Local Breweries, this podcast is for you! I love a good craft beer, so I’m always on the lookout for a local beer to try! This podcast showcases what’s going on in the Cincinnati beer community from the local brewers themselves.

I love this part of their podcast description: TALKING TO THE OWNERS, THE BREWERS AND THE DRINKERS OF CINCINNATI BEER, WE WILL ALWAYS ATTEMPT TO SHOW YOU THAT CRAFT BEER ISN’T ALWAYS JUST ABOUT WHAT’S IN THE GLASS, SOMETIMES THERE’S A BIGGER PICTURE INVOLVED!

THAT’S SO CINCINNATI
With all the news stories on TV about politics, crime, and the city’s happenings, it can become monotonous over time and just downright boring.

The Cincinnati Enquirer’s writers Jason Williams and Sharon Coolidge TAKE A NOTHING’S SACRED APPROACH TO THE PERSONALITIES AND EVENTS THAT SHAPE OUR CITY – AND HAVE MORE THAN A LITTLE FUN IN THE PROCESS.

Cincinnati has a lot to offer us, even in their podcast selection! Support your local podcasters and spend all that extra travel time between soccer practice and band rehearsals enjoying the talents of our local talent.

Abby Turner Hager
I am originally from New Hampshire and moved to the Cincinnati area in 2003. I am a single mom to 2 amazing boys, Eli and Ethan. We are avid Reds fans and you will likely find us at the ballpark quite a bit during baseball season. I have a degree in healthcare management and work full-time in Cincinnati. I have shared parenting of my boys, so when we are together, I try to make sure we make the most of our time! Whether it’s seeing Madcap Puppets, exploring the numerous local parks, enjoying the Cincinnati Pops, or cheering on our Cincinnati Redlegs, I strive to expose my boys to as many aspects of culture that I can! I enjoy music (I’ve played piano for 30 years) as well as being crafty (as time allows!), making crazy cool cakes, and relaxing with my boys, our dog Frankie and cats Lyra & Luna (we have quite the animal kingdom in our house)! I’m really excited about sharing a piece of my world with you and this oftentimes humorous and wild adventure I call my life as a mom!
