Why I Don’t Do Resolutions

0

It’s that time of year again, the time when gyms are full, meals are greener, and everyone is talking about their New Year’s Resolutions.

Well, most people.

I choose not to participate. Did you know that most resolutions are abandoned by February? And that those who follow through are few and far between?

For me personally, I think making changes throughout the year by taking stock of my commitments, health, and needs has been more successful. Rather than creating HUGE plans that begin with the new year, I prefer to make small adjustments all the time.

I like to think of it as driving a car.

Do you remember the first time you got behind the wheel and steered? If it was anything like my experience, I definitely went too far in both directions, rather rapidly, in an attempt to stay in the lane. Now that I’m an *ahem* seasoned driver, I know that tiny course corrections are much better for maintaining my place on the road.

So while many are headed to the gym or changing their diets, I’m going to maintain and take stock daily.

So, what do you think? Do you have a big “New Year’s Resolution,” or are foregoing the tradition as well?
