Fall on the Farm ~ Bloom’s and Berries’

1

We had a great kick off to fall this week at our house. Fall decorations are up, both inside and out. I switched over my glade plug-in scents to the seasonal scent of “sage and thyme” (which I fully recommend and endorse), and despite feeling a little under the weather myself today, we ventured out to a pumpkin patch. It has been several years since I have been to Blooms and Berries, located outside of Loveland off state route 48; but it is where I took one of my favorite pictures of Adelynn when she was an infant. They have the most amazing sunflower field and I had read that the sunflowers were going to be at their peak so I decided to venture over and try it out again.

It was well worth the trip and I was pleasantly surprised at the updates and additions they have made to their fall festivities. This included the addition of a trail to the sunflower field which features the Halloween theme book, Spookley the Square Pumpkin to read as you journey along the way. (You do have to go early in the season to catch the sunflowers!) Adelynn and I agreed, however, that our favorite activity was the corn maze.  There is both a “kid friendly” version (which we did), and a much larger “big kid” maze available.  Both mazes feature a scavenger hunt.  I’m fairly certain that the reason Adelynn enjoyed it so much was because you got to use a hole punch at each of the finds.  I enjoyed watching her problem solve which path she had already been down and what items she still needed to find.

Additionally, there was a hay ride that was filled with woodland creatures to view, a stop at a pumpkin field, play sets and other activities for kids, a cow train, farm animals to see, and a well-stocked farmer’s market filled with goodies for sale.

All of the above fall fun activities are included in the entry fee. I recommend going on a weekday if possible, as we found the crowd to be very manageable on the Friday we went. I like being around people but I hate when I go on an outing where there are just too many people for Adelynn to run around and enjoy herself.

Overall, it was truly a great experience where we both had fun and enjoyed being outdoors during this fall season. If you find yourself looking for somewhere fun to play on a fall weekend, check them out!

Have you and your family been to Blooms & Berries?
If so, what was your favorite part of the experience?
