A Letter to My Husband – I am Your Biggest Fan

0

Dear Husband,

These last 6 years of having and raising children (7 if you include pregnancy) have been a marathon. As soon as things started to get easy with one child, we had another, and another, until we arrived to the wonderful family of five that we are now. This is what we always planned. We planned that we would wait to have our first child a few years after we got married, wait two years or so to have the second, and a little less for the last.

I can not count the number of diapers we’ve changed, baths that we have given, bottles of baby food we have purchased, nights that we have stayed up rocking our kiddos back to sleep, lunches that we have packed, outfits that we have washed, boo-boos that we have kissed, episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse/Booba/TMNT that we have watched over and over…it is somewhat of a blur, but I want to just say, that amongst all of the wonderful craziness that has been the last 7 years… I am so thankful that I experienced this marathon called parenthood with you by my side.

You dear hubby, are the creme of the crop. Not only do you have a heck of a smile, recite Christmas Vacation at the most fitting times during events with extended family, and you won me over with your great voice impression of the Gingerbread man from Shrek, but you are just plain awesome.

Let me just count some of the ways why you are tops in my book:

You are an awesome dad – you love our kids dearly and you are involved in everything from sports, to laundry, bedtimes, and diapers – there are no limits for you. You are a stellar husband – you have never been shy about your love for me (I knew that you were a keeper when you had no problem buying me pads from the store when we were 19), and you are so gosh darn interesting – you retain facts from books, articles, documentaries, and YouTube videos like it’s your job. I love that you always have been comfortable to be who you are, nerdy interests and all, I mean this in a completely loving term, you know that I am a self-proclaimed nerd as well.

I type these words today because I do not think that I have always taken the time to show you how grateful that I am to have you in my life, to show you how much I appreciate all that you do, and to let you know how awesome I think that you are. Sometimes when the kids have finally gone to bed for the night after a long day, I go straight to bed without taking the opportunity to spend some quality time with you because I am so tired. Sometimes I am not the nicest wife in the world and over-react because I was already running low on patience from a mentally taxing day of trying to meet the demands of a full-time career and achieve the optimum mom/wife/work balance and felt that I had failed miserably. Sometimes… I have forgotten that you were human too and didn’t understand why you were upset or angry, because even the calmest people like yourself have days when you need to let it out.

I see you, husband.

I appreciate that you warmed by car up for me, had my iPhone screen fixed, and make pancakes every Sunday. You are not just any person. You are my husband, my rock, my best friend, the father of my children, sometimes even my teacher (you did teach me how to do laundry at 18 afterall), and you are my person – my lobster as Pheobe would say.

Thank you for everything that you do to take care of our family. Although I may not always put it into words, my love and appreciation for you is immeasurable.

He took her home to meet the family that December and Zandria fell in love with her husband and Cincinnati. It was an easy decision to make as to what city they would live in after Zandria was done with school. Zandria has been married since 2008 and has lived in Cincinnati since 2009. She has two wonderful boys whom are 4 and 1 and also is pregnant with a third baby due in August 2017. When Zandria is not driving her boys around the city to have an adventure, she enjoys sewing, crafts in general, taking pictures of her family, debating with her husband over who is using a word correctly (and often getting out the dictionary), coffee, and great conversation.
