Meet Abby

I am originally from New Hampshire and moved to the Cincinnati area in 2003. I am a divorced mom to 2 amazing boys, Eli 9 and Ethan 6. I lived in Northern Kentucky for the first 12 years I’ve been here and moved to the Westside of Cincinnati in 2015. We have LOVED all the opportunities to explore Cincinnati and everything it has to offer families! We are avid Reds fans and you will likely find us at Great American Ballpark quite a bit during baseball season. It’s basically our 2nd home in the summer! I have a degree in healthcare management and work full-time in Cincinnati. I have shared parenting of my boys, so when we are together, I try to make sure we make the most of our time! Whether it’s seeing Madcap Puppets, exploring the numerous local parks, enjoying the Cincinnati Pops, or cheering on our Cincinnati Redlegs, I strive to expose my boys to as many aspects of culture that I can!  I enjoy music (I’ve played piano for 30 years) as well as being crafty (as time allows!), making crazy cool cakes, and relaxing with my boys, my boyfriend, and our dog Frankie! I’m really excited about sharing a piece of my world with you and this often times humorous and wild adventure I call my life as a mom! (I have a separate blog at: www.thegiftofgabbyabby.wordpress.com.)

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Run off to the ocean and relax in the sun, play in the sand with my boys and swim all day!

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Pink of course! I’ve always loved the color pink and even though I’m surrounded by boys in my house, I can still feel a little “girlie” when I’m wearing pink. And like Shelby says in Steel Magnolias, “My colors are blush and bashful.”

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

The current favorite song in our household is “Neverland” by Ruth B. I could serenade you for hours!

Who would you call for bail money?

Well, considering the people I would call for bail money would most likely be right there with me needing bail also, it might be a difficult choice!

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

**WARNING** Must start the day with coffee. A coffee-lacking mom is a cranky mom (as my boys will attest to)!

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Right across the river in Newport, KY – Pompilios. LOVE their variety and Italian is always a good choice for me! 2nd Place would be Newport Pizza Company – BEST Pizza hands down!

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

My boys and I love going to Great American Ballpark! We are Reds fans through and through and we are a baseball family! There are so many activities for the kids and they are really a family friendly venue which I love!

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

It sounds so cliché, but the unconditional love, not only what I receive from my boys, but also what I easily am able to give to them. Loving someone so easily and without question is worth waking up to every single day.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Having to be the “mean mom” at times. Disciplining my boys and having to take away privileges is always disheartening, but in turn, a very important teaching moment as well.

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
