Meet Jennifer

“I was born and raised just north of Cincinnati in Wilmington, Ohio but consider myself a native Cincinnatian: an adopted “eastsider” who fled to the ‘burbs. I believe that Skyline is better than Gold Star, Pete should be in the Hall, the 1990 Reds are the best, OSU fans are annoying and the Bengals will never win the Super Bowl. I can’t however pick between Graeter’s and Aglamesis. That would be like picking my favorite child.

I attended Ohio University, the ORIGINAL and BEST university with Ohio in the name. Go Bobcats! I started out as an art major but soon decided I liked money and changed my major to retail management. I worked with companies including Stein Mart, Victoria’s Secret and Nautica. Perfect training for the mountains of laundry I now fold weekly.

In 2001, my husband and I moved to Portland, Oregon (we loved it) and in 2004 our son was born. After a brief layover in North Carolina, we missed Cincinnati and our families, and moved back in 2007, settling in Mason. Our daughter was born in 2009, and our family also includes a neurotic yellow cat that keeps me up at night.

I work part-time as a travel agent for Wayfarer Travel (Shameless plug #1: email me at [email protected]) and am Social Media Director for my husband’s podcast ‘Surviving the Startup’. (Shameless plug #2: Subscribe on iTunes!) When not busy working and being my family’s Chief Transportation Officer and only Sanitation Specialist, I like to complain with my friends, travel, watch my kids’ sporting activities, read and watch movies. As a contributor, I hope to pass on my love for this town and remind everyone that parenting is a messy business that is best dealt with a sense of humor, a stiff drink and a supporting cast of family and friends as crazy as you are.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Spend the day at Siesta Key beach with my family or a day back in Athens with my college friends.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

One of those crazy crayons that has a bunch of colors mixed together.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

The odds of me karaoke-ing are slim but Piano Man by Billy Joel or Don’t Stop Believing by Journey

Who would you call for bail money?

Depends on what I did. Either my husband or one of my college friends.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Keep an assured, clear distance.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

National chain: The Cheesecake Factory because the menu is 25 pages long. And cheesecake.
Local: Graeter’s. Because ice cream.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

Smale Park

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Spending time with my kids when they are pleasant and introducing them to all my favorite ‘80’s childhood things.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Spending time with my kids when one of us is cranky.

Welcome Jennifer!

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
