Meet Courtney R

I am a Cincinnati transplant. My husband and I moved here last October from Washington, D.C., where I was an Early Childhood teacher, instructional coach, and most recently principal at a charter school. I’m now a mom to a precious 2-month-old boy and a dramatic 2-year-old golden retriever. I am passionate about education and love spending time with family, reading, walking/ hiking, Pure Barre, taking pictures, discovering new restaurants, fantasy football, and “quick” trips to Target! I’m excited to start exploring all that Cincinnati has to offer a family and to share my journey into motherhood (and undoubtedly some first-time parent laughs) with you!

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?IMG_17 Web

I’d definitely start my day with a great cup of coffee and then take some kind of outing or excursion with the family. In my dream world, I would also have time for a manicure (that didn’t chip, ha) and my house would be clean at the end of the day.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Pale blue. I think it is soothing and peaceful. It reminds me of the beach.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

I’d have to choose something like “22” or “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift, but to truly avoid embarrassment and as a favor to the audience, I would probably avoid singing unless in a large group.

Who would you call for bail money?

My mom, who always answers her phone!

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

“She gets hangry.”

IMG_6005If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Does Graeter’s count? Best ice cream I’ve ever had! I also love Quatman’s Cafe. I was pretty obsessed with their grilled cheese, cheeseburgers, and fries during pregnancy.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

We’re excited to start taking our baby boy more places. Since he’s so little, he’s mainly just been places like the doctor’s office, the Kidd Coffee Drive-Thru, and walks around the neighborhood. However, we have some upcoming trips to the zoo, apple orchard, and pumpkin patch planned for October, which we are really excited about.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

I love so much about being a mom. Just watching our little dude grow and develop is absolutely amazing. He loves to smile and it melts my heart every single time. I love all the cuddles and naps on my lap.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

So I pretty much love being a mom, even though I totally worry about everything -seriously, every sniffle or every time the thermometer says 99.5° – as a new parent. I will say that our home remains in a state that I would call “hot mess” now and that I’d love to wear some of my pre-baby jeans now that it’s getting cooler. That being said, I wouldn’t trade motherhood for the world.

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
