MELISSA

“Hello! My name is Melissa. I’m a mother of a little girl named Ellie, she’s 4. I’ve been married for almost 7 years to my wonderful husband Matt. I work at a local daycare as a Lead School Age Teacher full time. I enjoy family time, my church, all things Disney, watching my favorite movies and tv shows, reading and writing. I consider myself a not-so-perfect mother doing her best. I’m not perfect. I may have yoga pants and a messy bun but I care about my family a whole lot!”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Fly to Disney World, and spend the day in Magic Kingdom.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Blue. I’m a pretty chill person most of the time.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

I don’t typically enjoy singing in public, let alone in front of people. ” Living on a Prayer.” is probably one of my most fave karaoke songs. I also belt out some Christian music in the car, alone.

Who would you call for bail money?

My husband first probably. Or any of my church family.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Warning!! Very emotional. May cry when happy, sad or mad.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is so hard to answer! Hmmmmm. Graeters. Because I could always go for ice cream!

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

My daughter has been a huge fan of indoor playgrounds right now. Totter Otterville or Jumping Jacks! She LOVES ball pits.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

I love just being her mommy. I love the little things she says and does. She makes me so proud of her! ” Your’re my best friend Mommy!”. I mean seriously. My fav! Also Snuggling. I just like to snuggle.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Defiance. When she ignores me on purpose and I KNOW she hears me.

ANDREA R.

“I grew up in South Bend, Ind., a stone’s throw from the campus of the University of Notre Dame, where I met my husband. I graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a degree in communications/ journalism. I have often joked about the fact I once had dreams of changing the literary world with my words, thoughts and writing – flash forward 20 years later to me buying fart guns at Target and watching Caillou reruns by myself wondering if I brushed my teeth. I do love reading memoirs and non-fiction, but can’t remember a time when I actually held a book that didn’t involve potty time or the Berenstein Bears. I used to run. Now I run after four kids. Our son is 10, our twin girls are 7 and our surprise –errr– youngest daughter is 4. I am wife to Matthew, who owns/operates a chain of local grocery stores here in Northern Kentucky/ Cincinnati, and we live a few houses down from his childhood home in Villa Hills. When we are freezing the winter away here, I’m wishing we were at our condo in Siesta Key, where I actually enjoy cleaning sand off four little people. I survive most days with Baileys in my coffee and love martini nights with girlfriends. I’m the brutally honest friend you can’t decide whether to love or hate. I have a boisterous personality that I blame on being the middle child of four girls in an Italian household. I want my gravestone to read, ‘She loved to laugh and make people laugh.’ Someday I hope to write something other than a grocery list, and have dreams of publishing children’s books. In the meantime, I document life’s happenings in my blog, hoping to give anyone a chuckle.”

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Read a book on Siesta Key beach, toes in sand, Corona in hand!

If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?

Red — loud, boisterous, passionate and probably angry you got me on the carpet.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

Either Billy Joel or Justin Bieber – there is no in between.

Who would you call for bail money?

My husband would have to bail me out, otherwise, he’d be paying to hire a babysitter.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Warning: Might blow if you spill anything on carpet.

If you had to eat at one Cincinnati restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Carlo and Johnnys. The Oscar style filet is better than ____. And I could probably live on their mac and cheese side for the rest of my life.

What is your favorite place to take the kids in Cincinnati?

The Newport Aquarium has always been fun for my kids. We love being on the river. Boating, dining, river festivals, etc.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

Some of the funny stories and sayings I hear from four little people. They crack me up.

What is your least favorite thing about being a mom?

Yelling at four little people.

I originally hail from the Land of Lincoln (Illinois), but I am happy to have called the Buckeye State my home since 2007! I have two kids (Milo, 5 & Dash, 2) that I just adore about 50% of the time. The other half of the time I’m dodging balls being thrown at my head while cleaning snot off of my shirt for the 3rd time and reminiscing about the days I actually slept. Also, I love cats. And I have mediocre crochet talents.
