Once a year, the Cincinnati Moms Blog team manages to round up all of the busy mama members and meet for a night of relaxation, adult conversation, and some fun! This year, we were completely spoiled by a new trio of local mamas who recently poured their passion for empowering women into a business venture, called Meraki. Meraki is a verb that means: to do something with soul, creativity or love.
A Meraki gathering is a time to explore different themes that all women can relate to. Feed your soul, spark your creativity and love who you are.
Our team was thrilled to experience exactly what it means to experience a Meraki gathering. Our chosen theme was PEACE.
Meraki gatherings have 4 key components:
Meet & Greet
Our team primarily interacts with one another online, so needless to say, it can get a little “loud” when we all get the chance to interact in person. The Meraki experience lent itself well to our need to be social. Katie, Allison, and Kim were super flexible with our needs for a delayed start time and periodic breaks to snack and catch up. Meraki provides a signature punch and dessert spread to compliment your gathering… we had gluten-free brownies, snickerdoodle brownies and homemade cupcakes with buttercream frosting that was simply divine!
What is your mantra? To be honest, I am still working on mine. I think I have actually decided that I am a multi-mantra person to address the various pieces of my life. However, it was really interesting to hear others on the team speak to theirs. This piece of the Meraki experience consists of a guided presentation that focuses on self-reflection, finding personal balance and joy and discussing strategies to help you conquer that daily life stress. You can learn a lot about people when you take time to engage in some focused conversation about what phrases and values speak to them as an individual. One of my favorite take-aways was a calendar provided to us to encourage the practice of Peace at home.
This piece of the event is where you get to put that reflection into motion with a guided craft experience. Our team got to make Peace Pallet Signs, but Meraki also has craft projects that include jewelry making, wreaths, ornaments and more. (The crafts are simple – so even if you don’t consider yourself artistic, you can enjoy this!)
This piece is designed to bring the focus back on you. The presenters will give practical ways to encourage the promotion of peace and personal wellness in your daily life, including the use of essential oils, breathing, stretching and relaxation. While nothing beats the simple act of coming together as a team of strong women and wonderful mothers, adding Meraki to the evening, left us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
If all of this sounds as amazing to you as it should… you have several options to choose from to enjoy your own Meraki experience. You can choose to go the route we did and host a private event or you can opt to attend one of Meraki’s monthly community events. Make sure you are following them on Facebook, at @MerakiCincinnati so you don’t miss out on their event announcements and remember to live life with SOUL, CREATIVITY and LOVE.
*** Special thank you to Kala Coffeehouse in Mason, who was our location host for the evening!
