What’s in My Mom Purse

0

As long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with purses and what women carry in them (think “what’s in my purse” videos on Youtube). I remember as young as age three, my mom seemed to carry just about anything imaginable in her purse and would always have a piece of gum if I asked for it, or some extra napkins from McDonald’s if I needed to blow my nose.

My mom was the person that would grab 20 napkins for four people to eat lunch, you know, just in case there was a ketchup explosion or something, but I digress. And my Grandma Sharon always had a lovely little mirror that clasped onto her coral lipstick so that she could watch herself as she reapplied her Maybelline pout.

I have been carrying purses, longer than I have known how to read.

One of my first purses was somewhat clear and sparkly, with The Little Mermaid on the front. I kept items in it such as grape Bubblicious Bubble Gum, assorted change, and a few random Barbie shoes. Although my purse styles and contents have changed, I still am a purse girl through and through. I am a mom to three young boys, and I also work full time, so I feel like I am out and about quite a bit. I am sharing the contents of my purse with you in hopes that I may give you some ideas, or you may just decide that I carry too much.

The view of my purse from the top. I stand all of my bags up on their side so that I can easily see what I am looking for. I am a “bag lady,” meaning I keep bags in bags because otherwise, I end up with a pile of stuff in my purse and I cannot find a thing.

This is all the kid’s stuff that I keep in my purse, currently. I keep crayons in a travel soap container, a granola bar in what used to be a cardholder (because who wants a smashed granola bar?), and a few random candies when I need to make miracles happen.

Some of the “just in case” items for myself. I have a carabiner to keep the ponytail holders together, a nail file, a pill holder, deodorant, antacid, and assorted lip items.

This is the technology and knitting project bag. I carry my knitting with me because I seldom get an opportunity to knit at home, so I often work on it during my lunch at work. You may have noticed that I have a bag twist on the cords to keep them tidy. It is a free way to organize my cords.

Items not pictured: There are two pockets on the outside. In one pocket, I keep my keys and I.D. for work and in the other pocket, I keep my most frequently used items – lip balm, lotion, tissues, and gum.

Although my purse may be a bit on the heavy side, I do not carry it around constantly.

I will often grab something that I need out of it and leave the purse in my office or at the bottom of my stroller. Sometimes I will just throw my wallet and phone in my diaper bag and leave my purse at home.

Do you keep more or less than what I keep in my purse? What is the most random item that you keep in your purse?
