My Name is Courtney, and I’m a Soccer Mom

My early 20s: Carefree, traveling, independent young thing without a thought of ever having a kid

Fast forward over a decade later: How’d I become a soccer (and soccer coach) momming, school PTO-membering, sleepover-hosting, Harry Potter-loving, school-project-crafting woman in my 30s?

Can I let you in on a little secret? I love every minute of it.

My life did not turn out nearly as I had expected it to, but I’m so glad it did. Motherhood has turned out to be one of the most fulfilling and fun parts of my life. Yes, it can also be infuriating and frustrating. But, helping mold and shape a little human into what they will be as an adult one day is so exciting to me. Watching little personalities change and evolve is so fascinating. I remember the first moment I caught a glimpse of a burgeoning personality around 4 months! This almost-10-year-old phase is super fun for me as well. She still wants to hang out with me and isn’t ashamed to still snuggle up with her parents.

I know each new phase will have its own challenges and joys, but I’m really looking forward to it all!

My favorite moments have been 4-6 months, around 3 years old, and now almost 10. My mother says her favorite is us all being adults and being her friends and not just her kids now. What have been your favorites moments… and did you imagine yourself in motherhood exactly as it turned out for you?

Courtney Snow
I was born in New York and lived in several states before settling down in my favorite city of all time - Cincinnati! I have an interracial family that consists of my amazing and talented husband (Derek) and our beautiful, silly daughter (Adilyn {2009}). I work full-time in Human Resources in addition to owning the Cincinnati, Dayton, & Louisville Mom Collectives, write and illustrate children's books (search "Courtney Jayne Snow" on Amazon), love to volunteer, and am a registered and certified nutritional consultant (RNC/CNC). I still do my best to be the best mom and wife I can be! I love art museums, the theatre, the zoo, reading, and Cincinnati parks. I'm a foodie and always love trying new places to eat. I hope other moms find either enlightenment or humor from my posts!
