Christmas time is right around the corner. It is literally my favorite time of year. My daughter Ellie loves to do art projects! I decided to research some easy DIY Christmas ornaments to make with kids.
(Remember to have fun! Let the kids be creative!!)
- Melted Crayon Ornament– I think these are cool because each child could do their favorite colors! Or, make it Christmassy with Red and Green.
- Cookie Cutter/Bead Ornament – Each child could pick and choose how detailed they want theirs to be. If you want to make a snowman look like a snowman, go for it. If you want to do a more abstract rainbow, that’s great, t00!
- Pour the Paint Ornament – Perfect for toddlers, up to school age kids. What’s great is this isn’t about being pinterest perfect.
- Scrabble Snowflake Ornament – I love this one because you can really make it personal. From doing the names from your family to words or phrases that are close to your heart. It is super cute and the best part is, you don’t have to be super crafty.
- Snowman Tea Lights – These tea lights can be bought at a dollar store! This is a cool craft that can be done with the big or little kids (with guidance).
- Icicles Ornament – Dollar store beads and pipe cleaners. Cheap, fun, and a great fine motor activity for the littles!
- Popsicle Stick Ornament – These kind of Christmas ornaments are the ones I always hold onto. Their tiny hands can use their imagination and creativity to create beautiful and unique artwork!
- Clothespin Snowflake Ornament – Glitter! It’s messy, but oh so fun and pretty. Side note, who uses clothespins for clothes anymore?!
- Character Ornaments – Gotta have some minions, ninja turtles and Elmo on your tree! My daughter has a Elmo made out of a lightbulb on our tree!
- Pom-Pom Pinecone Ornament – This ornament is my final one because its the most nostalgic for me. I still have the one I made for my parents on my tree at home!
I know I will be doing some of these with my daughter this Christmas. Tell me the kinds of things you enjoy making with your children!
