The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati proudly present Princess & Frog this month at the historic Taft Theatre! We’re giving you all the best tips and inside info, so you can get your tickets and enjoy the show. We’ll also be attending on opening day and will update this post with a review right after!
2/18/23 UPDATE :: TCT does it again! I was blown away once more by the set design and costuming of yet another show! The story is told so well, and the actors are phenomenal. My daughter and I especially loved seeing the Black actresses as the stars of the show. The evil queen was spectacular! She really commands that stage. One of our favorite parts was Croaker’s number – amazing choreography and so much fun!!! Even the two teens loved the whole show and even enjoyed meeting the prince afterwards and getting his autograph and their picture with him. 😉 This show is an absolute must-see for you and kids of all ages.
Note that this is NOT the Disney movie version! It is more based on the book. Every single one of TCT’s adaptations of any story has been brilliant, and I have no doubt Princess & Frog will be no exception! If you haven’t been to a TCT show before, most of the kids (and some parents) dress up for the theme of the show. Who cares if this show isn’t based on Disney’s The Princess on the Frog, go ahead and dress up the kiddos like those characters – or in any fairytale costume you want!
When a beautiful, but spoiled, princess throws her new golden ball down the palace garden well, she encounters an enchanted prince-turned frog, whose only hope at breaking his curse and turning back into a human is to be invited for dinner. Oh… and to be kissed on the nose by a princess. But this frog prince isn’t the only one under an enchanted curse. With the help of his amphibi-friends, the two form an unlikely bond by teaching each other the importance of self-discovery, friendship, and standing up to bad influence. This fresh new musical adaptation will have you croaking the showtunes all the way home!
Ideal for ages 4+. This production runs 60 minutes without an intermission.
TCT has been doing spotlight raffles during the performances this season. The baskets have all looked incredible the past two shows! Winners are chosen the Sundays after their final shows. They’ve also had The BonBonerie Fine Pastries there, which the kids get so excited about. The cookies always looked so beautiful and so good (and taste good!), and they have varying themed options from which to choose.
It’s so exciting to see the Crown Club back in full swing! They have signs next to the merchandise table directing to the pick-up for the special goodies club members receive before the show. They clear out the theatre pretty soon after the show ends so they can start the line for the autographs with some of the cast that is another incredible perk of this club.
