S’More of What?

s'more of what_One of my all time favorite movie scenes is when Scotty Smalls gets offered a S’more by Ham Porter and keeps asking “Some more of what?” in the 1993 classic, The Sandlot. Y’all, I crack up every time.

While I agree that the classic s’more is perfectly delicious and admit that I’ve made my fair share during recent months for a little pick-me-up, I’ll also admit that I love to mix it up with my campfire desserts.

Summer bar-b-cues, camp outs, and backyard nights with fire pits are a great time to wow your friends and family with some wild and crazy s’mores.

Below are a few ideas of how you can mix up this classic treat.

The ‘Mallow
Use jumbo or flavored marshmallows.
Use Peeps instead of marshmallows.

Toppings
Top with fruit. (Strawberries, bananas, raspberries. Oh, my!)
Sprinkle with cinnamon before you smash.
Add nuts.
Add sprinkles.
Add Nutella.
Go crazy with different chips. (Peanut butter chips, Reeces chips, etc.)
Use a mini candy bar instead of a plain chocolate.
For a treat that tastes delicious and makes a giant mess, add a little ice cream!
Add a few potato chips for a sweet and salty treat.

The Graham
Cinnamon and chocolate covered graham crackers.
Use cookies or brownies.

Enjoy!

I am a Cincinnati transplant. My husband and I moved here last October from Washington, D.C., where I was an Early Childhood teacher, instructional coach, and most recently principal at a charter school. I’m now a mom to a precious 8-month-old boy and a dramatic 2-year-old golden retriever. I am passionate about education and love spending time with family, reading, walking/ hiking, Pure Barre, taking pictures, discovering new restaurants, fantasy football, and “quick” trips to Target! I’m excited to start exploring all that Cincinnati has to offer a family and to share my journey into motherhood (and undoubtedly some first-time parent laughs) with you!
