Cincinnati & NKY Guide to Black-Owned Businesses

0
This guide is brought to you courtesy of the Cincinnati Mom Collective at no charge to these local business owners.

As we all navigate the choppy waters of unlearning our conscious and unconscious racial bias, it is an important part of the process to recognize and support Black people in our community who are working hard and rising up in spite of the systems that have held them back for so long. When you can, please support these local Black-owned businesses.

NOTE: I have seen multiple guides floating around the Internet the last few weeks, and they all list some great places that I know I can’t wait to try. I have noticed, however, that most of them are predominantly filled with restaurants. I think it is important to also note that there are great Black-owned businesses beyond that.  I hope you will start to more consciously choose the people and places you support in your day-to-day life.

Even though I said at the very beginning of this that I was going to steer clear of restaurants, sometimes you just need some good cookin’, and this is some of the best. An old friend of mine owns Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey, and I have loved watching his journey play out (you may have seen him on several Food Network shows!). He has worked so hard, and I have not seen him listed on any of the Black-Owned Restaurant Guides, so I just couldn’t leave him off of mine. I highly recommend for a post*COVID-19 date night. And, get the flight of gravy with extra biscuits. And a cocktail. You won’t regret it.
