As we all navigate the choppy waters of unlearning our conscious and unconscious racial bias, it is an important part of the process to recognize and support Black people in our community who are working hard and rising up in spite of the systems that have held them back for so long. NOTE: I have seen multiple guides floating around the Internet the last few weeks, and they all list some great places that I know I can’t wait to try. I have noticed, however, that most of them are predominantly filled with restaurants. I think it is important to also note that there are great Black-owned businesses beyond that. I hope you will start to more consciously choose the people and places you support in your day-to-day life.
