I Don’t Want to Date Celebs Anymore {I Want Play Dates With Our Kids}

0

One of the funnier ways I’ve realized I’m officially a mom and officially “old” is instead of making those cute lists of celebrity crushes I’d dream of dating, I now keep a running list of celebrity parents I’d love to plan play dates with. Maybe after 10 years of marriage and 3 kids, I’m just so far from the dating world that I can’t see myself in it, or maybe I’ve truly become consumed by the daily task of keeping three mini me’s alive and continuing to build a marriage that it’s all I can think of.

The idea of dating a celeb was always that glamorous thing that seemed so royal and like a dream; now I dream of play dates.

The reservations and fancy restaurants, being able to jump on a plane and go anywhere, whenever. The idea that you could go shopping without looking at price tags. Driving fun cars and living by the beach. Mostly superficial of course, but regardless, fun and exciting.

Anymore, none of that interests me. I like my little Midwestern home, away from the potential of natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis (yes, I have a fear of California, where most of these people live). I adore my minivan that fits my littles and all the bikes and helmets and everything else. And I’m really ok eating normal food that doesn’t require me to remember which piece of silverware to use first.

My focus these days is on keeping my kids happy, having fun, and socialized – while I, too, get to have adult conversations and learn new things along the way. I love play dates for the opportunity they provide for my kids to share their toys or try other kids’ toys (without me having to buy them) and being able to ask other parents about how they do things and try to learn a trick or two. Considering these celebs have access to experts and professional insight, and just a completely different lifestyle, I can’t imagine how fun a play date would be with them. I may even bust out the nicer glasses for it.

For those wondering, and in no special order (and in case they read this and wish to book with us), here’s my dream play date list:

  • John Legend and Chrissy Teigan
  • Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
  • Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo
  • Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
  • Dwayne Johnson and Lauren Hashian
  • Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis
  • Jenna Hager Bush and Henry Hager
  • Pink and Carey Hart
  • Kelly Clarkson
  • Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
  • Prince William and Princess Kate
  • Prince Harry and Megan Markle

Hey, we haven’t met you. And this is crazy? Want to plan a play date, so call us maybe?

Ok, that’s corny, but really, we can’t wait to meet you 😉
